I should have been a party planner...

Okay, I lied, I didn't get online yesterday to post the baby shower pics........but they are finally here!!

My cousin's shower was on Dec 3rd and we had such a fun time!  I wanted the party to be casual and not too thematic, so I went with a pink & brown color scheme and made my own decorations.  To start, here is the whole room:

I made tissue paper poms with spikey ends so they would look like dahlias - the big ones weren't turning out, so I cut the tissue paper in half and made 8"-9" poms, which ended up working better anyways (I was using $1 store tp anyways) - here's the link for the project: http://www.marthastewart.com/how-to/tissue-paper-pom-poms-how-to.  I used hot pink, pastel pink, and white tissue paper with brown ribbon to hang them and they turned out darling; I was very proud of my poms!

My other project was a banner.  I googled lots of images for ideas and settled on a cute one I saw that said "Sweet Baby (insert name)".  Now, I don't do a lot of craft projects of this sort, I have a small box of supplies and one pair of scalloped edge scissors(and no Cricut, so everything had to be handcut!!).  I purchased printed and solid sheets of 12x12 scrapbook paper (on sale at Michael's of course), circled my bowl on the printed ones and cut with above scissors, printed out the letters on regular cardstock to use as template and traced onto solid paper, glue letters, hole punch for ribbon and voila:

The last piece of decoration was the clothesline on the fireplace - pretty self explanitory......and yes, I used the clips I already had instead of color coordinating - I was so tired from the other projects and cleaning, the craft project to make them prettier was discarded. :)

I didn't get a picture of the food table (shame on me!), but I ordered veggie & sandwich trays and the cake from HEB to save me some of the work (and they're really inexpensive too!) - these:

I also had nixed nuts, jelly bellies (in pink, brown, & white), and m&ms in wine glasses.  We had chips & dip and red velvet cupcakes to complete.  Everything was delish!

Here is my all time favorite punch recipe that always gets raves:  http://www.yummly.com/recipe/Cranberry-Raspberry-Punch-Recipezaar

We played three games - TV family tree, Finish the Nursery Rhyme, and Toy Timeline - and the gifts for the games were ghiradeli chocolate - yum!!  I'll post the templates for these later.  For party favors, I just wrapped little hand sanitizers from Bath & Body Works in tulle:

Look Ma, I'm Blogging

Welcome to my wonderful world in the deep south!  Let's get to know each other - I'm Jenny a working mom of two boys who enjoys many activities not limited to decorating, cooking (does a microwave count?), reading, gardening, dancing, sewing, watching movies.........and I could go on and on.......really, I don't know how I fit it all in.

In my blog, you will find musings of my days on any random thoughts or ideas that pop into my head.  Enjoy!
